]]> http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?feed=rss2&p=41 MusicHostr.com v3 Alpha 1 Released http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=40 http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=40#comments Sun, 27 Jul 2008 20:01:54 +0000 admin http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=40 MusicHostr.com has gone through several versions and in the latest incarnation of the idea, I have returned to the original intent of the website.  In the past hour, I have set up and installed MusicHostr.com 3.0 alpha 1, which has been in development for a good duration of time.  Of course the feature set is very basic, but don’t go thinking that this is the extent of the website.  In the coming week or two, alpha 2 will make its appearance with more features, many problems fixed, and more genres for music.

It’s going to be an exciting time for MusicHostr.com!

]]> http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?feed=rss2&p=39 MusicHostr.com v2: Started http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=37 http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=37#comments Fri, 21 Dec 2007 04:10:33 +0000 admin http://blog.proviasdigital.com/?p=37 Finally some well-awaited news.  The revised version of MusicHostr.com has been started and user functions are close to done.  The design will be based on the current design for the site, except with fluid width and a few enhancements.  AJAX is going to be playing a role in this version due to the Prototype and Script.aculo.us frameworks.  There are also more features that will make their appearance in this updated version, but I’ll save those for later.

On a side note, when the new version goes live, all current users will receive an email informing them how to update their passwords.  This is due to the switch to a more secure method of storing passwords in the new version for precautionary purposes.  I will try and post more often during the development of version 2, and assuming everything goes perfectly, might get it out within a few days after Christmas.

I am looking into recovering the listen counts to a set of recent values, so please bear with me as I fix this problem.

Oh yea, 2.0 does mean the user module will be overhauled.  I don’t know if I’m going to switch it to a new system or not, but I’ll have to decide on that soon.

This morning, I received a question via the support address asking where they were.

Well, the updates are being worked on, so are the main functions of the site. Literally, the site is being rewritten from the top down. Even though the site was written to be easily extendable before, some of it was coded incorrectly and makes it a hassle to make it extendable. All of the data will remain in place, but some things will be enhanced, some will be fixed, and etc. Here’s a list for the curious (most will implemented when the updates are released):
